Once again, here I am back on my soapbox! Balance, Baby Balance!!!

I do feel strongly about a balanced diet. everything in moderation is fine for us, without going overboard on carbs, sugar, fats or any one food group. In an article in the New York Times titled “12 Tips For A Longer Life” Dan Buettner says something along these same lines.

No need to avoid coffee, or red wine, or that ice cream you have been craving. Most importantly, he points out what my mother keeps saying to me over and over again —

Eat in good company. It’s not just about what you eat, but how you eat, and how much you and your friends enjoy a meal together: “The secret sauce is the right mix of friends.”

It is so important to eat what you are eating in a happy and calm frame of mind. Never mind how healthy your meal is, the best benefits are obtained when your meal has been had in a happy atmosphere, not in front of a TV, not while you are having an angry argument with someone.
